Hearing in the ITS
contempt case, filed by BSNLEU, SNEA and AIBSLEA, came up
for hearing in the Hon'ble Delhi High Court today.
However, the judge recused himself from hearing the case.
Hence, the hearing is adjourned to 23rd March,

the government counsel earlier, in the same case.
Bill passed in Rajya Sabha.
Media reports say that
the Insurance Bill, paving the way to increase the FDI
cap to 49% is passed in the Rajya Sabha today. This is an
atrocious step by the Narendra Modi government, to enable
the multi national companies to capture the Indian
Insurance Sector and to loot the people's money. BSNLEU
severely condemns this act of the government, and vows to
continue its fight against the Neo Liberal Policies, in
tandem with the Central Trade Unions.

revising the health of these two companies. I can tell you
on your channel, you have been following this sector very
closely, the way these two public sector undertakings have
been ill-treated in the last seven years is something to
be seen to be believed. Both of these companies were in

TRAI has proposed to cut

the regulator wants telecom companies to charge a maximum
of 45 paise per minute, instead of 75 paise permitted at

Under this circumstance, the Prime Minister has made the
following statement. We welcome this statement and wish

ministers love corporates?
BJP came to power utilising the popular anger of the
people, against the Congress Party, in whose rule massive
scams like the 2G and Coalgate have taken place. Whether
it is 2G or Coalgate, the big corporates looted the wealth
of the nation by bribing the politicians in power. Now it
is slowly coming out that the leaders of the ruling BJP
are not different from the Congress leaders. Sufficient
evidence has come out now, which shows that Nitin Gadgari,
the present Union Minister and former BJP President, has
stayed with his family in a luxury yacht belonging to the
Essar group, in the “French Reviera”. Gadgari has admitted
that he, his wife, two sons and daughter stayed for two
nights in the luxury yacht in July 2013, as guests. This
may appear to be a small favour. But this shows the
“closeness” between the political leaders and the big
corporates. Now we can understand why the ministers are
favouring the corporates and weakening the public sector

executives, to fill up the MD posts of 5 PSU banks. These
banks are Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank, Bank of

the pretext to improve the efficiency of the PSU banks. It
may be noted that more than 100 private banks of the
United States became bankrupt in the Economic Crisis that
started in 2008. But the Indian PSU banks withstood that
crisis. In the name of efficiency, now the Modi Sarkar
wants to ruin the PSU banks.

Bhagwat Maligns Mother Teresa.
Great people who lived in

beyond region, language, religion, etc. Mother Teresa was
one such great soul. She was an European by birth. But

with Leprosy, HIV, TB and many such dreaded diseases.
Recognising her services, she was conferred with Nobel

a new discovery. He has said that Mother Teresa did
service with an ulterior motive of making religious
conversions. Mohan Bhagwat’s speech is clearly aimed at
spreading communal hatred. His remark is coming close on
the heals of attacks on churches in Delhi and in various
other places. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has
stated that his government will not allow any one to
spread communal hatred. We hope that the speech of people

During his visit to
India, US President Barak Obama made an observation that
religious intolerance is increasing in India. Obama should
realize that this intolerance is being practiced in his
own country also. A Hindu temple has been vandalised at
Seattle in the US and it’s walls are defaced, ahead of the
Maha Shivaratri celebrations. On one of the walls, the
miscreants had also painted the word “Get Out”. Similarly,
a few days back, a 57 year old hapless Indian, named
Sureshbhai Patel, became paralytic, due to the attack on
him by the US police. Such attacks are being carried out
because the victims are “non-whites”. This is a clear case
of racial discrimination. While giving advice to others,
Obama should also take a care of his own country.

intolerance in India would have shocked Mahatma Gandhi –
The communal hatred being

It is a known fact that
the Taliban is an international terrorist organisation, which

Modi government wants to give an escape route to the tax -
A good number of MNCs are
cheating the government of India without paying their
taxes. The best example is Vodafone, which has to pay
Rs.13,000 crore to the Indian government, by way of
cheating tax. Shell, Nokia, etc., are also coming in this
list. On the contrary, the MNCs have been accusing that
there is no proper investment climate in India. Now, the
Narendra Modi government has decided to create the proper
investment climate. A decision is taken by the government,
not to go on appeal in higher courts, in the tax cheating
cases by MNCs. The Central Board for Direct Taxes (CBDT)
has issued instruction for this effect. So, in all
probability, Vodafone may also escape from its liability
to pay Rs.13,000 crore to the government.

for the indefinite strike - plunge into action immediately
and send photos as well as reports for updating on CHQ
Dear comrades, the
indefinite strike is going to take place in BSNL from 17th
March, demanding immediate action by the government for
the revival of BSNL. This may be the last chance for us to
get the BSNL revived. So, this is a "Now or Never"
situation. We have to mobilise our entire strength and
resources, to ensure that the strike takes place
successfully. The Forum has already given call to conduct
a "Save BSNL Campaign", to create awareness among the
general public. Through the conducting of this campaign,
one crore signatures should also be collected from the
general public, in support of the revival of BSNL. It
means, signatures have got to be collected at the rate of
50 signatures per employee. This is not an unrealistic
target. But the time at our disposal is very less. The one
crore signatures are going to be handed over to the Prime
Minister's Office on 25.02.2015, i.e., the day on which
the March to Parliament will take place. Hence, CHQ calls
upon all the circle and district secretaries to
immediately plunge into action and to make the "Save BSNL
Convention", "collection of one crore signatures" and the
"Indefinite strike" a historic success. Being the biggest
constituent of the Forum, it is needless to say that the
circle and district secretaries of BSNLEU, should have a
very close coordination with the other constituents of the
Forum. Hence, CHQ calls upon all the circle and district
unions to immediately plunge into action and take all out
efforts to make the entire programme a success. With a
view to encourage our circle and district unions to plunge
into the preparations, CHQ will be updating the photos and
reports of "Save BSNL Convention" and "Signature Campaign"
on CHQ website. Comrades are requested to send photos and
signed with Canara Bank for extending various loan schemes
to BSNL employees.<<view

spectrum auctioning is postponed to 4th March.
The auctioning of the 2G

Originally the auctioning was fixed to be held on 25th
February. But now, the date has been changed to 4th
March. This postponement is due to the fact that the
Ministry of Communications is still not able to fix the

India's best known
cartoonist, passed away.
India’s best known
cartoonist, R.K.Laxman, passed away yesterday at Pune, at
the age of 94. For over 50 years he had been entertaining
the Indian newspaper readers with his creation of the
"common man". R.K.Laxman was well known for his political
cartoons, through which he exposed the hypocrisy of the
political class. Further, in most of his cartoons,
R.K.Laxman highlighted the plight of the marginalised and
downtrodden sections of the people. The nation has lost an
artist with great creativity. BSNLEU mourns the death of
R.K.Laxman and pays it's respectful homage to him.

Companies cannot mortgage spectrum – says DoT.
Private Telecom Companies

allow them to mortgage their spectrum to banks, for taking
loans. Spectrum is the asset of the nation. It is being
allotted to telecom companies for a specific period, for
which the companies pay spectrum fee to the government. As
such, government cannot allow any telecom company to

Governments of the European countries have
already given huge concessions and bail-outs to the big
Corporates, to enable them to come out of the economic
crises that started in 2008. At the same time, these
governments imposed wage-cut, retrenchment, increasing of
work-load, pension-cut, etc., on the working class, in the
name of “austerity measures”. The working class has gone
in to a series of struggles in all the European countries,
against those anti-labour “austerity” measures. Again the
European Central Bank has announced a stimulus (bail-out
to the corporates) of 1.2 trillion US dollars on

on the European working class. It must also be noted that
it is the governments of these developed European

crude joke indeed.

strike of the Coal workers was withdrawn on the 2nd
day, i.e. on 07.01.2015. BSNLEU congratulates the 7 lakh
Coal workers, and their trade unions for launching such a
mighty struggle against the retrograde policy of the
Narendra Modi government to kill the Public Sector. The
Coal Minister, Piyush Goyal, has assured that a committee
would be formed to look into the demand of the trade
unions (no privatisation of the Coal sector), based on
which the strike has been called off. Undoubtedly, the
strike is a signal to the Modi government that the working
class will not silently accept the anti-worker and
pro-corporate policies of his government.

The three day dharna,
called on by the Forum, as a prelude to the indefinite
strike, has taken place very successfully in almost all
the circles. Especially, the leaders and cadres of BSNLEU
have taken up this program very seriously, and have worked
hard to make it a success. CHQ heartily congrats every one
for doing this excellent job. Every where, the employees
have also responded well to the call. This shows the
resolve of the ordinary worker to defend BSNL. This only
indicates that the indefinite strike will be a grand
success. Now, we have to move ahead with the next stage of
the program. Holding the "Save BSNL Campaign" in every
nooks and corners of all the towns and cities, collection
of one crore signatures and conducting the circle level
conventions are the next stage of the program. CHQ
requests all the circle and district unions to concentrate

Corporate Office has
provided our Union with a paper on "Man power Plan" and
"Staffing Norms". The paper has already been uploaded on
CHQ website on 29-12-2015 itself. CHQ has also requested
our comrades to send their views on the issue. So far CHQ
has not received any response on this, from any one. This
is unfortunate. Views of the field units will enable CHQ
to take a clear view on the issue. Hence, CHQ requests all
the circle secretaries and Central Office-bearers to study
the paper and send their views to the CHQ within two days.

top most priority to the "Save BSNL Campaign" and
collection of one crore signatures.
The Forum has already
given call to collect one crore signatures from the
public, by way of conducting save BSNL campaigns,
throughout the country. CHQ has received reports about
collection of signatures from some circles. But no report
is received from any circle about the "save BSNL
campaign". Conducting of this campaign, among the public,
is very essential to educate the people about the need for
the existence of BSNL. BSNLEU, being the
largest constituent of the Forum, has to take initiative
for holding "save BSNL campaign" as well as collection of
one crore signatures, by appropriately coordinating with
the other constituents of the Forum. Hence, circle and
district secretaries of BSNLEU are requested to give top
most priority to these works.

BSNLEU is continuously
urging the Management for the implementation of the orders
of the DoP&T, regarding lesser standards of evaluation for
SC & ST candidates. We are also demanding that based on
this, the results of the examinations that were conducted
recently should also be reviewed. Under these
circumstances, guidelines are issued by the Corporate
Office to review the results of failed SC/ST candidates.
However, these guidelines fall short of the DoP&T orders.
Further, Corporate Office guidelines say that these
guidelines are applicable only for future examinations.
BSNLEU will continue to insist for the proper
implementation of the DoP&T orders.<<<view
